FYI, I am awake because I have to work on a project with a super quick turnaround, and I slacked big time last night due to the hockey! Anyhow, a funny (well, at the moment, but we will see if it still is tomorrow) conversation with Tim in Germany, whose lunchtime is coming soon. Obviously our brainwaves are not the same with all this time difference!
Tim Höfer / 3:43
if you read it swiss german is pretty much the same, apart from weird wordings
but spoken it’s really like something entirely else
i can barely understand it
really, it could be dutch
Jane / 3:43

(so pleased with that joke i just made)
Tim Höfer / 3:45

Jane / 3:45

Jane / 3:45

Tim Höfer / 3:46
no it was just too sublime for the humor center in my german brain
haha
It’s super late right now but I feel very guilty that I haven’t update this site for a really long time and it’s horrible to think that someone from say, Porto, Portugal visits my blog only to find that nothing new is yet to be posted… so here it is!
I had a very nice morning surprised with (obviously) a surprise (gift)! My coworker Tom, who is seriously one of the most talented people I’ve known as more than a mere imagination of mine, asked me if I could do a couple of illustrations for a project he was working on, and he had spoiled me with his generous token of appreciation:

The current issue of Monocle (that I guess we like to look through quite often at work for such nice illustrations) and a print of one of his illustrations that I particularly liked. When he was working it, I loved it so much that I seriously couldn’t shut up about it- this is pretty much how it was:
J: “Wow, that’s so nice, Tom!”
T: “Thank you.”
J: “Really, it’s sooooo pretty!” … “Wow.”
T: “Thanks!”
J: “Wow. I loooove whales!”
T: “Yup.”
J: “I love sea creatures!”
Then as you’ve guessed, Tom’s ignoring me at this point and I am going on and on about marine animals per usual. Yup. Anyways, merci, Tom!

This is by another Tom who have surprised me with his hidden talent that is an excellent execution in Halloween pumpkin carving. As you know it, I have a soft spot for owls, and this is such a nice pumpkin.
This coming Friday at work, we are having a “Mad Men Day,” where we will all dress up and do things like the characters in the show. I have yet to start watching the show, primarily due to the fear of not being able to get out, once in. I am behind 3 seasons, which means that I won’t be able to go to bed before 1am until at least Remembrance day and that’s not good. Starring at a screen for 8 hrs at work 5 days a week is enough for my eyes I think. I also have a very long history of not having any self-control whatsoever when it comes to well made TV shows on which I need to catch up. I am so obsessive compulsive like that. 10 out of 10, I’ve stayed up until I really couldn’t (more like I fall asleep and I will soon fine myself in my room with my laptop and light on, with my glasses on the floor - it just isn’t a pretty sight, let’s say!) for many TV Shows. FYI, these maneuvers were all done over summer/winter/Easter break while in school, and now that I work full time, I am frightened that I will one day fall asleep in front on my desk where you will see bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb on my screen as the ‘b’ key is most likely upon where my face will be resting. I probably need to do some homework before Friday though, just so that I can pretend that I’m up to date. I did visit my favourite second hand store last weekend in the hopes of finding something great, and I think I have an okay one that would work. As usual, I’ve got a bunch of indulgent items like pyrex dishes, brass fruits that has a second function (usually a bell or a stash), and of course old children’s books, including The Story of Zachary Zween. Scooooooore!
This is it for now, hopefully I’ll be able to follow up on the success of the Mad Men Day and also my second hand shop finds soon.
